FMA cake

Today Nastasia and I visited the school (Frisco Montessori Academy) where I worked before I had Nastasia. It was nice to see all the teachers I worked with, such a good school - Nastasia loved it! We baked a special cake for them :) It had caramel flavored butter cream with sliced bananas as a filling :p

Rolled Cake from my childhood .

Skazka (a fairy tail) is the name for the cake from my childhood :) It was very popular and loved by everyone. It is a plain cake rolled with butter cream. It can be any flavor you like.

A firewood cake is a rolled cake. Filling is whipped cream and raspberry . On top is chocolate butter cream :p

Meringue Cakes !

One of my 3 favorite cakes is a Kiev Cake (first two- Medovik and Napoleon, which you can find in older posts  ). This cake is different from others because it has a meringue layer between two biscuit layers, of course with butter cream between the layers. Meringue has chopped walnuts and it is hard. There are the same ingredients for meringue as in Lemon Meringue cake, but in Kiev cake a meringue layer has nuts, and it is baked as a separate layer until it is hard. Here some of my Kiev Cakes.

This cake's name is "Count ruins!" . It is from meringue crusts with various cream fillings, but no biscuit layer. And there's an old-fashioned cream tart, which is layers of cake and meringue, with flavored cream fillings, but "cream tart" is used for all kinds of other things, as well. My Count ruins cake has nuts and melted chocolate. You can ask to put in this one whatever you like :) It is a gluten free cake.

Last cake with meringue has no name because it is absolutely my fantasy :) I called it Coffee-almond cake! It has two layers. Top layer is hard meringue with roasted almonds and coffee, second is a biscuit layer with almond flavor. Coffee butter cream with roasted almonds and chocolate on top.

All my cakes, cake fillings, and icing made from scratch !!!

The cakes I had fun making :)

Someone DID IT !!! Congrats!

This cake was for my friend's baby shower. The idea of the blanket pull over the baby came from personal experience - I did that a lot to my daughter who liked to asleep on parents' bed :0 The most difficult part was to make the baby's face, I had made 3 of them...it took me a while.

A catfish cake was for my husband on his Birthday. He likes to go fishing; this catfish was about the size the biggest real catfish he has got.

OK, I think every lady should have a Chanel purse. So, I gave one to my fried on her Birthday :)

A Barbie cake for a beautiful 5 year old girl.

This Barbie cake is special. First of all, I made it for my daughter's 1st Birthday. Second of all, it was first time I decorated this big. It came out nice, and I was brave enough to start decorate cakes again and again.

"Tyubeteyka" (Uzbek traditional hat) cake for my father in law, who visited us this spring.

Box of chocolate and fruits. Inside are two plain cakes  with whipped cream between them, sides are from melted white and dark chocolate.

Napoleon.

Napoleon is one of the favorites Russian cake. This cake is similar to Mille feuille  (French "thousand-leaf"). Napoleon is at least 4 layers of puff pastry , alternating with butter cream. It has rich flavor and great moist tender texture ... just try it :)

Medovik- Russian Honey Cake

History of honey pastries goes to ancient times. Honey is the oldest sweetener that nature gives us for centuries.History of Medovik production started many decades ago. Origin of the cake comes from Eastern countries like Russia or Ukraine, where each family has its own recipe proved by generations. I have my own recipe too :) .Medovik is completely different from other cakes and not only by its appearance. My Medovik  has attracted even most demanding gourmets by its delicate and captivating taste.

Each cake has many very thin layers- 1/6 " each of honey biscuits and whipped cream and honey filling.
